India have finally broken the threatening-looking opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando, thanks to Axar Patel. The spinner laid a perfect trap to get better of Nissanka on 45 - just 5 runs short of his second fifty of the series. 

In the 20th over, bowling his 5th over, Axar Patel played with the batter's mind by with a brilliant plan of action. He first tossed an arm ball up that just missed Nissanka's off-stump by a whisker. Two balls later, the left-arm tossed it up further up but it bowled an off-break delivery. 

The batter went to attack with a slog sweep in the legside, however, he got a massive top edge as the ball flew high in the air in front of square in the off side, where Rishabh Pant moved in the covers region to take a good catch.

As the ball flew high in the air in the offside, Pant moved firmly to take an easy catch in front of Virat Kohli, who laughingly gave a reaction.

Although after Axar's wicket of Nissanka, India are yet to break a breakthrough. Fernando and Kusal Mendis are going strongly for the hosts. At the write of publishing, Sri Lanka's total is 153-1 after 31 overs. 

Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma lost his third toss of the series as Charith Asalanka decided to bat first for the third time straight. India brought in Riyan Parag and Rishabh Pant in place of Arshdeep Singh and KL Rahul for the series-decider.
