Stylish Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka had a memorable outing with the bat, as he provided the hosts with a blistering start in the ongoing third ODI against India at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. 

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sri Lanka were off to a flier, with Nissanka tormenting the Indian attack right from the go.

As India kickstarted the first half, Mohammed Siraj was unimpressive with the ball, with Nissanka toying with him the powerplay. Despite being economic, Shivam Dube failed to provide India with a breakthrough. 

So, Indian captain Rohit Sharma eventually brought his trump card Axar Patel into the attack in pursuit of a wicket. 

However, unfortunately for India, the left-arm spinner couldn't draw the first blood, being smacked all around the ground by the Lankan openers. 

In particular, Axar's fourth over was disastrous for India, as Nissanka hammered him for a boundary and a six, collecting 13 runs off it. 

After conceding a boundary, Axar bowled a full-length ball around the middle stump, which Nissanka pummelled for a glorious six over the mid wicket. 

Axar's ineffectiveness with the ball induced a frustrated reaction from skipper Rohit, who gave him an angry stare from the slip cordon. 

Meanwhile, riding on the openers' power-packed performance, Sri Lanka have raced to 74 for none in 15.5 overs as of writing.
