[Watch] Aussie Seamer Sets Up Imam Ul Haq Like A Bunny; Draws Blood In His First Over

The 4-day unofficial Test match between Pakistan and Prime Minister’s Xl finally got underway on December 6 at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Shan Masood, the new skipper for Pakistan in the red-ball format opted to bat first. The visitors got off to a very shaky start as they lost the opener Imam Ul Haq thanks to some immaculate piece of bowling from the 23-year-old Jordan Buckingham who challenged both edges of the bat.

Imam found the going to be increasingly tough as soon as Buckingham was brought on to bowl the 8th over. The Victoria-based bowler was right on the money in his very first over and gave very little away. Iman, who has been severely short of some runs in the longer format struggled to tackle the probing line and the lateral movement of Buckingham.

After observing a few pitched-up deliveries, Imam made up his mind to drive him on the up. But he perished while doing so as the ball found the inside edge of his blade. The last ball of Buckingham’s first over was a touch fuller which deviated inwards off the seam.

Imam failed to account for the inward movement of the pitch and as a result gifted his wicket easily leaving the visitors in a vulnerable state of 16-1 after 8 overs.

Despite starting poorly, Pakistan made a solid recovery as the skipper Masood got into the act by smashing a marvellous ton to lift his side to 5-307 after 85 overs at the time of writing. Furthermore, useful contributions were also made by Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed who notched up impressive 40-plus scores to put Pakistan in a commanding position.
