Asha Sobhana was RCB’s hero on Friday (March 15) during their WPL 2024 Eliminator fixture against Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

The 32-year-old spinner defended 12 runs off the final over to bring delight to Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry.

Needing seven runs off the last ball for the win, Amelia Kerr stepped up against Asha in an attempt for a lofted drive. However, the New Zealand international was beaten by the sharp leg break, in which she could only muster a single.

While RCB players, and dressing room staff, were jumping in joy, Asha kept her calm and made a gesture that reminded fans of Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 T20 batter in the world.

It all happened when SKY played a sublime knock for MI against RCB during IPL 2020, in which Virat Kohli tried to sledge him. There, the flamboyant batter, after hitting the winning runs, made a gesture that said, ‘Don’t worry, I’m here. And Asha did exactly that after taking RCB to an emphatic victory.

RCB will hope to break their title drought by beating Delhi Capitals on Sunday when the two sides will go head-to-head at the same venue.
