Arguably the greatest T20 bowler of all time, Rashid Khan made an instant impact on his return to cricket on Friday (March 15) during Afghanistan’s first T20I of the three-match series against Ireland at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who will soon join Gujarat Titans for IPL 2024, was on a hat-trick at one point before returning excellent figures of 4-0-19-3 as his team’s leader.

Among his breakthroughs, how he outfoxed Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher showed there has been no change in him despite a recent injury setback.

After dismissing Paul Stirling, Rashid bowled a vicious googly against Campher to welcome him during the 11th over of Ireland’s innings. The Irish international tried to scoop it, only to see the ball rattling the stumps.

Rashid did his trademark stretched-arms celebration immediately after the wicket, showing how much confidence he has in his bowling accuracy.

Meanwhile, Ireland, led by Paul Stirling, closed on 149/6 batting first, with Harry Tector remaining not out on 56* off 34 balls. For Afghanistan, alongside Rashid, Nangeyalia kharote bowled beautifully, picking 2/16 off his four overs.
