Alex Hales took the aerial route twice in the space of three deliveries off Quetta Gladiators spinner Abrar Ahmed in the all-important Eliminator 1 clash of the ongoing PSL 2024 season.

Turning up for Islamabad United at Karachi’s National Stadium, the struggling opener found some rhythm in the powerplay overs before his threatening stay at the crease was halted by Akeal Hosein.

Coming into the PSL 2024 Eliminator 1 off the back of three ducks in his last four innings of the tournament, Alex Hales found some momentum against Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Abrar Ahmed inside the opening powerplay.

The burly Englishman launched the leg-spinner out of the long-off boundary twice in the space of three deliveries to race to 19* off 17 deliveries at the end of the fifth over of the innings.

Hales’ lusty hits down the ground also helped Islamabad United to surge to 46-0 in the blink of an eye.

Unfortunately for Islamabad United, Alex Hales’ brewing juggernaut lasted just three additional deliveries as he was holed out by fellow countryman Jason Roy off Akeal Hosein’s bowling the following over.

Making his way back to the sheds with a 20-ball 23 to his name, his dismissal marked United’s first casualty of the high-scoring innings.
