The Uttar Pradesh wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel, who is a Kargil war veteran, has a very interesting and inspiring story behind him about becoming a cricketer, and somewhere he shared it without speaking a word during the India vs. England Test series when he gave a salute to his father after scoring his maiden fifty.

Meanwhile, Nem Chand, father of Dhruv Jurel and a Kargil war veteran, proudly returned his son's salute from the England Test series by offering his own salute at a recent event. His eyes glistened with pride and tears as he stood, while Jurel once again saluted him.

Jurel's salute wasn't just a joyful reaction; it was a sweet acknowledgment of his father's silent wish. The evening before his extraordinary performance, Jurel had a heartfelt conversation with his father, who expressed a longing to witness his son's salute—a gesture that held special meaning since Dhruv's early days.

"The celebration after scoring fifty was for my father. He is a veteran of the Kargil War. Yesterday evening, I was speaking to my father over phone and he told me indirectly 'beta, show your salute once at least', I have been doing that since childhood, so that celebration was for him,” Jurel said.

Notably, Nem Singh Jurel, Dhruv's father and a retired Havaldar of the Indian Army, had originally wished for his son to pursue a path of service to the nation through the National Defence Academy.

However, Dhruv's unwavering commitment to cricket led him on a divergent path, where he now proudly represents India in cricket and has made significant strides on the international scene.

Jurel announced his Test debut in the third Test at Rajkot with an outstanding batting display, contributing 46 runs to India's emphatic triumph by 434 runs.

However, his defining moment came in the fourth Test, where his vital knock of 90, combined with an impressive partnership with Kuldeep Yadav, allowed India to narrow England's lead to just 46 runs.

Additionally, his unbeaten 39 in the second innings, alongside Shubman Gill, proved decisive in India's tense chase of 192 runs, securing him the illustrious 'Player of the Match' accolade in only his second Test outing.
