In a major boost to the RCB home fans, the Karnataka State Cricket Association has recently confirmed that the IPL 2024 season matches scheduled to take place at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will not be affected by the city’s ongoing water crisis.

IPL 2024 season is just days away, and ahead of the carnival, the preseason buzz and excitement have gripped the fans. However, RCB home fans were hit by blues due to a major crisis that hit the city earlier this year.

The city of Bengaluru is currently witnessing a water crisis due to the average monsoon and depletion of groundwater levels. The Cauvery River alone is unable to fulfill the water needs of approximately 15 million people who reside in India’s infotech hub city.

Meanwhile, amid a shortage of adequate drinking water, there were initial concerns about the feasibility of hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) IPL 2024 season matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium, known for its iconic atmosphere and passionate cricket fever, is one of the premier cricket venues in India and a favorite among players and spectators alike.

RCB has historically received mad support from the crowd despite their 16-years-long trophy drought. Thus, concerns surrounding the water crisis potentially stripping Chinnaswmay’s right to host RCB’s home games this IPL season were palpable amongst the home fans.

However, the state cricket board, KSCA, has moved swiftly to address these concerns and assure fans that the matches will proceed as scheduled, without any disruptions or compromises to the quality of the tournament.

The state of Karnataka is committed to adopting a proactive approach to manage the water crisis while simultaneously ensuring the smooth conduct of IPL matches.

Notably, RCB will play its first home game against the Punjab Kings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 25.
