Continuing his stellar run for Sydney Sixers, veteran Australian batter Steve Smith started his BBL 13 campaign with a bang, helping his side get a brisk start in the opening fixture against Melbourne Renegades. Opening the batting alongside Josh Phillippe, Smith played several delightful shots to capitalise on the field restrictions and form a solid foundation for a mammoth total for the Sixers. 

After being put into bat first, Sydney Sixers got off to a positive start, as Smith and Phillippe treated the Renegades' bowlers with utter disdain. Smith, in particular, played the aggressor's role, with Phillippe supporting him at the other end. 

Although the talismanic Australian batter played several delightful shots, his first six of the season grabbed the limelight as it involved grace and elegance. 

It was a full length delivery around the middle and leg stump from Tom Rogers, as Smith whipped it beautifully using his magical wrists. The ball was so well-timed that it sailed over the square leg fence for a glorious six. 

Riding on Smith's fireworks, the Sixers are powered themselves to 85 for two in 9.2 overs. As of writing, Smith and Henriques are unbeaten on 42* and 11*, respectively.
