Explosive batter Aaron Jones grabbed a million eyeballs during the T20 World Cup opener between the United States and Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The right-handed batter emerged as the saviour for the United States, slamming the fastest T20I fifty for them during a tense run-chase.

Batting first, Canada posted a massive 194-run total, riding on scintillating half-centuries from Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton.

In response, the United States were down on the mat as Canada reduced them to 42 for two in 6.3 overs. However, Jones' counterattacking fifty brought a sigh of relief to the co-hosts' camp, keeping them alive in the game.

Coming at number four, the swashbuckling batter hammered a boundary and eight gigantic sixes for a sensational knock. He brought up his fifty in just 22 deliveries, thus recording the fastest half-century for his team.

Regarding the game, despite starting on an underwhelming note, USA are the hot favourites to win this contest. The power-packed partnership between Jones and Andreas Gous has certainly helped them claim the driving seat.

As of writing, the United States were 165 for two in 14.3 overs, needing only 30 runs to win in 33 balls.
