In a significant development, the United States of America have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Canada in the opening encounter of the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2024. This game marks the beginning of the high-profile tournament, which is expected to thrill the fans with endless entertainment.

At toss, the USA skipper Monak Patel revealed that they would bowl considering the freshness of the surface, saying,

"We would like to bowl first. It looks a fresh wicket and we would like to see what total we are defending. It's an amazing feeling. All the players have sacrificed a lot for the last five years and it's great to play in front of the home crowd."

On the other hand, Patel's counterpart Saad Bin Zafar reckoned that they don't mind batting first as the pitch looks good for batting.

"I think the surface is really good. I don't mind batting first. We put runs on the board and then try to defend it. This is a World Cup, a pressure game not a bilateral series. We have our full squad now, I am hopeful we will produce a good game of cricket," he said.
