Riding on the openers' fireworks, Canada got off to a dream start in the T20 World Cup opener against the United States at the Grand Prairie Stadium. However, the co-hosts made a stunning comeback, getting two crucial wickets in a quick succession.

After Harmeet Singh deceived Aaron Johnson, Jasmeet Singh and Monak Patel joined forces to execute Pargat Singh's runout.

The incident occurred during the eighth over of Canada's innings when they were cruising at a solid run rate. Bowling his first over, Shadley van Schalkwyk kept things tight initially, conceding only five runs off the first five deliveries.

To conclude his over, the medium-pacer bowled a good length ball, which Pargat worked away towards the deep backward square leg. Sensing an opportunity for a risky second run, the batters started running, with Jasmeet Singh picking the ball up and throwing towards Monank Patel.

Although the throw was slightly off target, Patel showed remarkable reflexes to dislodge the bails in time. In the replay, the TV umpire found Pargat short of the crease, declaring him out.

However, despite losing two partners, Canada opener Navneet Dhaliwal continues to fight at one end. As of writing, Canada were 85 for two at the halfway mark, with Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton batting on 40* and 10*, respectively.
