Explosive English opener Phil Salt had an outstanding beginning to his IPL 2024 campaign, as he smashed ace SRH speedster Marco Jansen during KKR's ongoing match against SRH in Kolkata. 

After SRH opted to bowl, Salt's fireworks ensured a brisk start for KKR before they lost the plot, with the other batters letting them down in the high-octane clash. 

Salt encountered Jansen in the second over after Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept things tight in the opening over. 

After bowling a dot ball, Jansen angled it away from Salt, who dispatched it into the stands with perfection. He followed it up with another biggie, sending Jansen's wide good-length delivery powerfully over the deep point fence.

His third six came off the following ball, as the Englishman thwacked the South African pacer's full-length ball over the off side field for another maximum. 

However, soon after Salt's batting heroics, KKR suffered a batting collapse, losing Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana in quick succession. 

Meanwhile, Salt is unbeaten in the middle, steadying the ship for his side. T. Natarajan has emerged as SRH's wrecker-in-chief with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets. 

As of writing, KKR are 77 for four in eleven overs, with Salt and Ramandeep Singh batting on 36* and 20*, respectively.
