At the start of the 105th over, Verreynne found his range and decided it was time to take charge. Facing Aamir Jamal, he unleashed a stunning sequence of shots that lit up the Newlands ground.

On the third ball of the over, Jamal bowled a short ball, pitched around off stump. Verreynne, moving deep into his crease, expertly pulled the delivery over the square leg boundary for his first maximum of the over.

The very next ball saw Kyle Verreynne hammer another short delivery, this time over deep square leg for another six. The batter’s confidence was palpable, as he seemed to read Jamal’s length and lines with ease.

But Verreynne wasn’t done yet. On the very next delivery, a pitched-up ball outside the off-stump presented him with another opportunity, and he drove it elegantly through the covers for a brilliant four. The over ended with a sensational 17 runs.

Talking about the match so far, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. Captain Temba Bavuma led from the front with a composed knock of 106 runs off 179 balls. However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled.

Despite these setbacks, it was Ryan Rickelton who rescued the innings with an outstanding knock as he made his maiden double century. At the time of writing, lunch has been taken and South Africa are on 429/5 with Rickelton still batting and alongside Kyle Verreynne at 74 runs.
