Cricket fans are seething with anger after a viral video exposed racist chants by some Australian fans during the Melbourne Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The video shows a group in the stands targeting Indian supporters with taunts like "Where’s your visa?"

Racist Taunts at MCG Leave Cricket Fans Furious

The incident is yet another black chapter in the history of crowd behaviour. It brought back memories of the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy when the SCG crowd went too far.

Back then it were Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah who were at the receiving end of racial slurs. Siraj was even called a 'brown monkey.' The Indian team, led by Ajinkya Rahane, didn’t let it slide. They reported the issue, leading to six spectators being booted out and an apology from Cricket Australia.

Fast forward to today, and here we are again. The chants at the MCG may not have been as explicit, but they carried a clear racist undertone. It’s the kind of behaviour that cricket doesn’t need and shouldn’t tolerate.

Fans Speak Their Minds

Social media has been on fire since the video surfaced. Fans from across the globe have called out the behaviour, saying racism has no place in cricket or anywhere else.

It’s clear people are fed up. Cricket is supposed to be a game that brings people together, not divides them. The Australian crowd is known for being loud and passionate, but moments like these take things too far.

AUS vs IND 5th Test Hangs In Balance

While the drama unfolded off the field, there was plenty happening on it too. In the ongoing fifth and final Test at the SCG, India is battling hard to draw the series level at 2-2.

After folding for just 185 runs in the first innings, the bowlers stepped up and bundled out Australia for 181. It’s neck and neck, but India’s top order didn’t help the cause, collapsing again in the second innings.

At Stumps on Day 2, India is hanging in there at 141/6 with a lead of 145 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are at the crease, trying to push the lead past 200. Rishabh Pant, as always, stole the show with a quickfire 61 off 33 balls, shifting momentum back to India. Day 3 is set to be a thriller.
