Indian captain Rohit Sharma had a memorable outing in the ongoing Asia Cup clash against Pakistan, as he slammed a blistering fifty, ensuring a fabulous start for his side. Opening the batting alongside Shubman Gill, Sharma got off the mark with a glorious six off Shaheen Afridi's bowling in the very first over. However, Afridi's bowling partner Naseem Shah fairly troubled him from the other end, keeping him quiet through his pace and subtle movement.

But, fortunately for Sharma and India, Gill took on Shah, prompting Pakistani captain Babar Azam to introduce his ace spinner Shadab Khan into the attack. However, as soon as the leggie came to bowl, Sharma smashed him to all parts of the ground, completing a quick-fire fifty in this process.

It was Sharma's 50th ODI fifty, which came with a humongous six off Shadab in the 15th over. It was a juicy full toss, as Sharma dispatched it into the stands with his trademark pull shot.

Before the 15th over, Sharma schooled Shadab in the 13th over, smashing him for 16 runs with two fours and a six. On a similar note, Gill clobbered the Pakistani seamers for glorious fours and completed his fifty. Riding on the openers' fireworks, India have raced to 121 for no loss in 16.3 overs, with Sharma and Gill batting on 56* and 58*, respectively.
