In the ongoing Women's Senior One-Day Trophy match between Maharashtra Women and Railways Women at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Kiran Navgire put on a stunning display of power-hitting, scoring 64 runs off just 25 balls. Her explosive knock came at a crucial moment when Maharashtra Women were looking to add more runs.
Kiran Navgire's Fiery Knock
Despite the early setback of opener Ishwari Savkar, Maharashtra Women rallied through their middle-order, with significant contributions from Sakshi Sunil Kanadi, Mukta Magre, and captain Anuja Patil. However, it was Kiran Navgire's blistering cameo that stole the spotlight.
Her rapid-fire innings, particularly her mammoth sixes in the long-on and long-off regions, propelled Maharashtra to a competitive total of 254 runs.
Earlier in the match, Railways Women, won the toss and opted to bowl first, and initially they seemed to have the upper hand. But Kiran Navgire's onslaught turned the game in Maharashtra's favour.
Railways Women, chasing a modest target, lost both openers early in their innings. Challa Jhansi Lakshmi was dismissed for just 35 runs. Her departure came at a time when Railways were hoping for a solid start. Similarly, Indrani Roy was dismissed for 10 runs.
In a further blow to Railways, they lost their third wicket of Dayalan Hemalatha leaving them in a precarious position. As of now, Railways Women need 155 runs in 26 overs, with seven wickets remaining. For Railways, the middle-order, will now need to stabilise the innings and then accelerate in the final stages of the chase.
