The Chennai Super Kings have been the most consistent team in the IPL. They have over the years performed brilliantly and mostly been a strong contender for the trophy. One of the biggest reasons behind the consistency of the Super Kings have been their unique auction strategy.

Chennai Super Kings mostly look to retain their core and then repurchase their important players during the auctions. The same was noted during the IPL 2025 auction and as a result there were not too many CSK players from the IPL 2024 who ended up in other teams. However, here is a look at three CSK players who were released by CSK but can be a game changer for the team they are a part of in IPL 2025.

3. Deepak Chahar

The Indian medium pacer was an important part of the CSK set-up in the last few years. Deepak Chahar used to give the five-time champions some great starts with the new ball. He has that uncanny knack for picking up wickets in the powerplays and that has time and again put his team on an advantageous position in the game. However, his career has often been plagued with injury and it could be a reason that CSK decided to release him.

Mumbai Indians wanted to strengthen their bowling unit for IPL 2025. This is evident from the fact that they spent about INR 9.25 Cr for the Indian medium pacer. The fact that he can add to depth of the team's bowling attack and help them pick up wickets in the opening stages makes him one of their probable MVPs for the next season.

2. Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali had been one of the best utility players during his time in CSK. The English all-rounder had been used as a floater in the batting line-up and sometimes also contributed with the ball in hand. However, with the plethora of all-rounders that CSK had in their side, Moeen Ali did not get a regular go for them.

The five-time IPL champions released Ali ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. This allowed the defending champions to buy him up for INR 2 Cr. Moeen Ali could be an effective presence in the top order of the batting line-up and with his ability to bowl efficient overs in the middle overs he could be a MVP for KKR in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane was an important part of the CSK batting line-up in the last couple of seasons. The Indian batter with his radical batting helped the team increasing the scoring rate of the team in important matches. However, as they plan for the next edition of the tournament, Rahane was released by the most consistent team in the league.

As he went under the hammer, KKR bought him for INR 1.5 Cr. The rumours that are rife suggest that KKR might make him the captain of the team. Besides being one of the probable leaders, Rahane could also add dynamism to the batting line-up of KKR in the upcoming edition. The experience that the player has, along with his current form and leadership abilities, Rahane could be one of the MVPs for the team in the upcoming edition.
