West Indies skipper Rovman Powell played a crucial innings during the T20 World Cup Super Eight match against England at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia.

The captain demonstrated his power-hitting skills as he targeted Liam Livingstone in the 15th over.

He hit three massive sixes in that over, with two of them being hammered straight down the ground off flighted leg-break deliveries, each at 93.4 kph, with the ball landing almost in the second tier above the sight screen.

The third six came off a 94.2 kph delivery, which was full and wide outside off stump. Rovman Powell cleared his front leg and sent the ball 93 meters over the long-on boundary.

Despite this impressive display, Powell fell short of a much-deserved half-century as Livingstone managed to scalp his wicket in the same over.

Earlier in the match, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. West Indies openers Brandon King and Johnson Charles provided a solid start, but King had to retire hurt with a suspected groin injury after scoring 23 off 13 balls. Nicholas Pooran joined Charles, and together they built a steady partnership.

The real momentum, however, was injected by skipper Rovman Powell, who played an explosive innings, scoring 36 runs off just 17 balls, including three massive sixes. His quick-fire knock helped West Indies post a challenging total of 180 runs on the board.
