In the ongoing first IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the visitors are breathing fire and on course of a thumping win against the defending champions. KKR, batting first, put just 175 runs on the board. 

KKR had a roller-coaster of an innings, as they lost an early wicket, then put runs on the board, before eventually collapsing and registering an under-par score. However, the pitch looked totally different when RCB came to bat as Virat Kohli and Phil Salt went all guns blazing from the first ball. 

Phil Salt Takes On Varun Chakaravarthy

Notably, Phil Salt completed his fifty within the powerplay, and the visitors put 76 runs on the board after the end of the first powerplay. Talking about Salt, he entered the beast mode and took on Varun Chakaravarthy. 

In the 4th over of the match, which was also his first over of the new season, Salt took on Varun and whacked him for 18 runs that too came on in the last four balls of the over. On the 3rd ball, he hit Varun for a four, followed by a six. On the last two balls, Salt whacked Chakaravarthy for two more fours. Watch the shots here. 

Salt Takes On His Former Team

It is worth noting that Salt smashed his first fifty for RCB on his debut match. He previously featured for KKR and was one of their top-scorer and key contributor behind the title. However, the Knight Riders didn't show faith in him and let him go. 

Talking about the match, Varun has taken his revenge against Salt and sent him packing in his second over. RCB are 95/1 after 9 overs.
