India’s promising all-rounder Washington Sundar hammered Jack Nisbet for 3 back-to-back boundaries in the second inning of the 2-day pink ball warm-up game against Prime Minister XI. In a 241-run chase, Sundar shifted gears to lead India to a comfortable victory.
The upcoming contest in the Border-Gavaskar series will be played with pink ball at the Adelaide Oval Stadium starting from December 6. Hence, to practice with the shiny ball, team India featured in a 2-day warm-up game against Prime Minister XI at Canberra.
After restricting the opposition at 240/10 in the first innings, India had to chase the total on Day 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul had a successful 75-run opening partnership before Shubman Gill joined to score 50 off 62 balls. Rahul paved the way for skipper Rohit Sharma, who failed miserably to get dismissed at 3 off 11 balls.

Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar then took charge to lead India to a comfortable chase. Sundar, in particular, was aggressive as he took on Jack Nisbet for back-to-back boundaries in the 42nd over of the second innings.
To begin with, Sundar played a beautiful drive through the covers that raced to the boundary rope quickly. Nisbet then shifted his length to full, and Sundar flicked it to the leg side for another boundary at deep square leg.
Jack Nisbet was under pressure as he bowled a back-of-the-length delivery outside the off-stump line to tempt the batter. While the bounce deceived Washington Sundar, an outside edge raced to the boundary rope right through the gap between the second and third slip. To add to the drama, Nisbet had overstepped, resulting in a no-ball.
While India won the game in the 43rd over, Rohit Sharma signalled Sundar and Sarfaraz Khan to bat till the overs were completed. Eventually, stumps were called three overs later and India sealed a comfortable 6-wicket victory.
The pink ball Test between India and Australia will begin from December 6 to December 10 at the Adelaide Oval Stadium.
