On Sunday, December 1, India registered a comfortable win against Australia PM XI in the pink ball warm-up Test in Canberra. The Rohit Sharma-led side beat PM XI by six wickets with 19 balls to spare.
Here's Why India Batted Entire 46 Overs
However, bizarre scenes occurred in the recently concluded match as India continued to bat despite chasing the set target. It is worth noting that even after chasing the target of 241 runs, India batted for the next 18 balls as it was a practice match, and they wanted to play all 46 overs to be fully prepared for the upcoming Pink-Ball Test.
It is worth noting that India will face Australia for the 2nd Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy on December 6 in a pink-ball Test in Adelaide. The last time the Rohit Sharma-led side played a pink-ball Test was also in Adelaide, where they collapsed for the infamous 36 runs.
Shubman Gill Shines For India
Regarding the recently concluded match against PM XI, India lost Sarfaraz Khan after the game was officially over, and Khan returned to the pavilion with a score of 1 (4). As a result, Devdutt Padikkal, who was not even padded up, had to rush to the middle and was seen tightening his pad straps in between the overs.
Eventually, after the end of 46 overs, India put 257 runs on the board, losing five wickets. Overall, Shubman Gill was the top-run getter with 50 (62), while Harshit Rana shone with the ball and took a four-wicket haul. Despite India's win, Australia's Sam Konstas won the player of the match award for his century.
