Aaryavir Sehwag in DPL (Source: @DelhiPLT20/X.com)
Born in the house of a well-reputed former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag, Aaryavir made his presence felt in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025. Opening the innings for Central Delhi Kings (CDK) on his debut, Sehwag smashed 22 runs off 16 deliveries before being dismissed.
Junior Sehwag Sparkles On DPL Debut But Fails To Score 50
17-year-old Aaryavir Sehwag recently made his debut in the DPL 2025 season at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, playing against East Delhi Riders. Opening the innings, he scored a fluent 22 off 16 deliveries, with four boundaries at a strike rate of 137.50.
During his knock, he went against the ace Indian pacer, Navdeep Saini, in the third over, smashing him for two consecutive boundaries. In the fifth over, he targeted Rounak Waghela, delivering a similar fate to the left-arm spinner, before being dismissed in the same over as he was caught by Mayank Rawat.
Despite not scoring a half-century, the right-hander left an indelible mark on his debut. His fierce boundaries were played brilliantly through the covers, especially against the gun pacer Saini, whom he targeted specifically.
Sehwag's lofted drives reminded everyone of senior pro Virender Sehwag's explosive shots, especially against pace in the very first over, that too in his trademark style.
Interestingly, Aaryavir hadn't featured in any T20 competition before being a part of the side. He was previously awarded the catch of the match in the last game without even making his debut, having taken a wonderful catch.
Youngster, born in 2007 is expected to leave a major mark with these kind of impressive shots, only if he can replicate a part of his father's aura.
Central Delhi Kings Post 155 After Yugal Saini's Half-Century
Thanks to Aaryavir's start, and Yugal Saini's outstanding 52-run knock off 32 deliveries, while Jasvir Sehrawat's 37* helped the Central Delhi Kings post a decent score of 155 on the board after 20 overs, having lost six wickets. Rounak Waghela was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 17 in his three overs, impacting Kings' run rate.
