Recently, Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has reached a notable milestone as he scored a double century for Delhi in the prestigious Cooch Behar Trophy. Aaryavir was unbeaten at 200 runs off 229 balls with 34 boundaries and 2 sixes as he took Delhi to a match against Meghalaya at the MCA Cricket Ground in Shillong.

The Cooch Behar Trophy is one of India's most important under-19 tournaments, conducted by the BCCI. It has been a platform for budding cricketers since 1945-46.

Originally a school competition, it was changed to an under-19 tournament in 1987-88, with all the countrywide teams participating in this in several phases that culminated into the final.

Aaryavir Sehwag emulates father Virender Sehwag

Recently, in Delhi-Meghalaya's Cooch Behar game, 16-year-old Aaryavir Sehwag grabbed headlines for his marathon knock. In response to the 260-run total set by Meghalaya, Delhi had a 180-run opening partnership. Aaryavir contributed with 60 runs before he raced to his hundred. However, the teenager was hungry for more.

Aaryavir Sehwag batted through the marathon innings and thumped 200* off 229 balls by stumps on Day 2. His innings featured 34 boundaries and 2 sixes, more telling of his aggressive style of batting, undeniably similar to Virender Sehwag.

Owing to Aaryavir's dominance, Delhi finished with a substantial 208-run lead at stumps on Day 2. His maturity at the crease and composure under pressure highlighted his potential as a future star. And the 16-year-old is still uneaten with 8 wickets in hand. Hence, he has an opportunity to convert this into a much bigger score and emulate his father's iconic triple hundred mark.

When Sehwag left a mark in BGT

Virender Sehwag's explosive 195 at the MCG in 2003 remains one of the most iconic knocks in Border-Gavaskar Trophy history. Sehwag stepped in at the third Test opening for India and certainly tore Australia's potent attack featuring Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, and Stuart MacGill.

His 233-ball innings studded with 25 fours and 5 sixes showcased his unutterable piece of class and unmatched domination. And Sehwag made a mighty 141-run opening stand with Aakash Chopra, again attacking with Rahul Dravid when he went short of his double century.
