In what is coming as another major news, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has released their squad for the upcoming T20I Tri-series, set to be played in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. A squad of 17 players has been released, among which 16 are already a part of the Asia Cup, meaning there is only one change from the original squad.

Naveen-Ul-Haq Out For Afghanistan For T20I Tri-Series

For the unversed, the Afghanistan side are all set to play the Pakistan and the UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from the 29th of August in the T20I Tri-series, where they will be first up against Pakistan and as they will feature against both these nations twice, while the final has been scheduled for the 7th of September at the same venue.

As a matter of fact, 16 players of 17 are already a part of the already announced Asia Cup squad, while there is only one change from the original setup. Pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been given rest ahead of the Asia Cup for the T20I Tri-series, and in his place, uncapped Abdullah Ahmadzai has been included in what is his maiden national call-up.

Ahmadzai, the 22-year-old is a medium pacer from Nangarhar and has represented Hindkush Strikers, Band-e Amir Dragons, Amo Sharks, and Maiwand Champions in the past. His recent T20 stats are impressive, with 14 wickets in 10 games at an average of 15.64, while bowling at an economy of just 6.84.

Leg spinner Rashid Khan again will lead the side, as he will then take his side into the Asia Cup. Looking at the overall squad, there is quite a lot of experience with the all-rounders Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, and Karim Jannat making their way into the middle order, while there is also the presence of top-class openers in Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

The two emerging players in Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai, who have been magnificent so far for Afghanistan, have also been included in the line-up for this three-team tournament.

The pace of Fazalhaq Farooqi will be crucial, while spin options are in plenty for the Afghanistan side, who have the likes of Noor Ahmad, AM Ghazanfar, Mujeeb ur Rahman, veteran Mohammad Nabi, and skipper Rashid leading this bowling lineup.
