India Under-19 devoured their Australian counterparts to take a 1-0 lead in the series. After Vaibhav Suryavanshi paved way with some fireworks at the top, Vedant Trivedi and Abhigyan Kundu aced the Indian run-chase with blistering unbeaten half-centuries.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the first youth ODI of the three-match series between Australia Under-19 and India Under-19, as it panned out at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Sunday, September 21.

Kishan Kumar, Henil Patel Restrict AUS U19 To 225

Kishan Kumar shattered Australia’s top-order with the wickets of both openers, Alex Turner and Simon Budge for ducks in the first over of the match. Henil Patel and RS Ambrish ran through the hosts’ middle-order by picking up four wickets between them, with the former unfurling the spell of the innings with impressive figures of 3-38 from his 10 overs.

Kanishk Chouhan further plucked two wickets during the middle overs as Australia Under-19 slipped to 167-8 at one stage of their innings. However, a fighting 77*-run knock from just 68 balls with six boundaries and a six from John James elevated the hosts to a competitive 225-9 in 50 overs.

Trivedi, Kundu Seal Indian Chase After Suryavanshi Fireworks

India U19 opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi slapped 38 runs off just 22 balls with seven fours and a six, all during his 50-run partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre before falling to Hayden Schiller. Mhatre and number three Vivaan Malhotra also made their way back to the pavilion in quick succession courtesy of Charles Lachmund (2-46) as India Under-19 slipped to 75-3 in 10 overs.

Vedant Trivedi and Abhigyan Kundu went on to guide Team India to a comprehensive victory with an unbroken 152-run partnership for the fourth wicket. While Trivedi made 61* off 69 balls, Kundu bludgeoned 87* from just 74 deliveries to top-score in the innings as India won the match by seven wickets in 30.3 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
