Saud Shakeel, the Pakistan vice-captain has been prolific in his brief Test career so far, and the southpaw has now added another glorious chapter to his career by hitting a brilliant century against England in Rawalpindi Test. It is a difficult pitch to bat, and Pakistan needed someone to step up as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and Saud Shakeel has once again shown the temperament to deliver under pressure.
Saud Shakeel's Century Put Pakistan Ahead In Rawalpindi Test
Saud Shakeel walked to bat at number 5 with Pakistan reduced to 46-3. He got decent support from Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan, but they could not carry on their starts and Saud Shakeel was left to do the bulk of the work. He kept the scoreboard ticking right from the onset and found an able partner in the form of Noman Ali as the two brought Pakistan close to England's first innings total. It was important for Saud Shakeel to stay in the middle, because there is no experience of Babar Azam in this current Pakistan Test squad and the country needed their vice-captain to deliver in the decider.
Saud Shakeel finally got to his century in the 79th over and got to the landmark in 181 balls. He hit only four boundaries in his hundred, but he rotated the strike regularly and that did not help England spinners settle to one line and length against him. He would now look to stretch Pakistan's lead as much as possible as Pakistan have a great chance to win the series after losing the first Test in Multan.
