Australia A walloped their Indian counterparts in the second List A game to level the three-match series. Tilak Varma and Riyan Parag conjured fighting half-centuries, only for their valiant efforts to go in vain in Australia’s revised target after a rain delay.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the second unofficial ODI of the three-match series between India A and Australia A, as it panned out at the Green Park in Kanpur on Friday, October 3.

Tilak Varma and Riyan Parag 50s take India to 246

India A lost Prabhsimran Singh for just a single and in-form opener Abhishek Sharma for a duck to slip to 6-2 in less than three overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer also made his way back to the sheds for just eight in the sixth over of the game. Tilak Varma at number three conjured India A’s spirited fightback alongside Riyan Parag, with both cricketers smacking half-centuries in their 99-run partnership. Parag belted 58 from 54 balls while Tilak Varma top-scored in the innings through his 94.

Harshit Rana (21 off 13) and Ravi Bishnoi (26 off 30) listed valuable runs at the death as India A reached a competitive 246 in 45.5 overs. For Australia A, Jack Edwards picked up four wickets in the innings at an expense of 56 runs. Will Sutherland and Tanveer Sangha also chipped in with a couple of wickets each.

Harvey and Cooper Connolly blaze Australia to win in DLS chase

Chasing 160 runs in 25 overs in a revised target after an extensive rain delay, Australia A openers Mackenzie Harvey and Jake Fraser-McGurk raced to 57-0 in less than seven overs. McGurk tonked 36 from just 20 balls with seven boundaries and a six before he was dismissed by Nishant Sindhu.

Cooper Connolly at number three sustained the top-order momentum by slapping a 31-ball half-century, and crafted a 103-run unbroken stand with Harvey (70* off 49) to blaze Australia A to a huge nine-wicket win with 50 balls remaining (DLS method).
