Tilak Varma was the star of the show with the bat in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 and, throughout the tournament, displayed amazing consistency and temperament. After all the accolades, he is now back on the field for India A, and has shown his class yet again.

The batter walked out to bat at number 3 against Australia A after the loss of an early wicket and displayed great composure in tough conditions. India A lost three big batters - Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer with just 17 on the board, but Tilak Varma did not let the pressure get into his head. He batted cautiously, while Riyan Parag batted aggressively and scored a fifty as the duo brought India back on track.

Parag departed after his fifty, but Tilak Varma kept going. He scored 46.81 percent of his runs in boundaries, and with the pacers getting help early on, he did not try to attack them unnecessarily. Overall, he scored 30 runs off 50 balls against pacers, but it was against spinners that he unleashed his scoring options.

Against spin, he scored 66 off 73 balls and hit five fours and four sixes in his knock. His knock took India to a respectable total of 246 and they would be hoping to defend it in the second half to take an unassailable lead in the series. Thus, Tilak Varma has continued his great form from Asia Cup 2025 and is pushing hard for a place in the ODI team for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Tilak Varma has played four ODIs so far for India and has one fifty in them. If he continues to perform in the same fashion, there is a chance that he might be India's long-term number 3 once Virat Kohli retires.
