England Under-19 overcame its top-order jitters to sneak in a sensational victory against India Under-19 in the second Youth ODI match. Captain Thomas Rew led from the front with a turbulent century after a couple of crucial three-wicket hauls from Jack Home and Alex Green as England Under-19 levelled the five-match series 1-1.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of second Youth ODI, as it panned out at the County Ground in Northampton on Monday, June 30.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Among Four Indian 40s To Reach 290

India Under-19 lost captain and opening batter Ayush Mhatre for a first-ball duck to Alex French in the first over of the match. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (45 off 34) and number three Vihaan Malhotra (49 off 68) both restructured the Indian innings with 40s before getting dismissed by Jack Home.

Alex Green picked up the key wickets of Maulyarajsinh Chavda and Abhigyan Kundu (32 off 41) to claim figures of 3-50. Rahul Kumar (47 off 47) and Kanishk Chouhan (45 off 40) produced more 40s as India Under-19 charted 290 in 49 overs.

For England Under-19, Alex French picked up three additional wickets in the slog overs to finish with 4-71. Home denied Kumar his half-century to pick up his third of the evening to claim 3-63.

Thomas Rew 131 Counters Ambrish’s Four-Fer

Chasing 291 for a win, England Under-19 lost each of their top three batters to Yudhajit Guha and RS Ambrish by the time of reaching 47 in 11.3 overs. Rocky Flintoff at number four led England’s spirited fightback alongside captain and centurion Thomas Rew. While Flintoff grinded his way to 39, Rew clattered 16 fours and six huge sixes to make 131 off just 89 deliveries.

Kanishk Chouhan dismissed Flintoff at 170-4, and Henil Patel (2-28) and Yudhajit Guha (2-63) further piled on the late Indian momentum. Ambrish picked up two tailenders to finish with fighting figures of 4-80, but several lower-order contributions and a vital 12-ball 20* from Sebastian Morgan sealed the deal in England’s favour in a topsy-turvy final over with a wicket to spare.
