South Africa set up a record target for Zimbabwe on Day 3 of the series-opening first Test. Number three batter Wiaan Mulder headlined the second South African innings with a huge century after resuming his overnight score of 25*.

Masakadza Takes Four, But Mulder Ton Mounts SA Lead
Resuming their second innings at 49-1, South Africa batted nearly 70 additional overs on Day 3 to reach 369 in 82.5 overs. Overnight batter Wiaan Mulder notched up his second Test century with a career-best score of 147 from 206 balls. The cricketer whacked 17 fours and two sixes during his four-hour batting marathon, and shared 104 runs for the sixth wicket with Kyle Verreynne (36).
Overnight unbeaten opener Tony de Zorzi, number four David Bedingham and all-rounder Corbin Bosch also scored brisk 30s each, before interim captain Keshav Maharaj made 51 off 70 balls with four fours and a six.
For Zimbabwe, left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza picked up four wickets, which included the prized scalps of Bedingham and Verreynne to claim figures of 4-98. Tanaka Chivanga and Vincent Masekesa also picked up two wickets each in the innings.
Bosch Strikes Late On Day 3 As South Africa Sneak One
Chasing a record target of 537, Zimbabwe opener Takudzwanashe Kaitano was dismissed by Corbin Bosch off the final over of the day for 12. The cricketer washed up 62 deliveries during his defiant stay at the crease. His unbeaten opening partner Prince Masvaure will resume his innings on Day 4 at 5* off 49 balls as Zimbabwe reached 32-1 from 18.2 overs, finding themselves another 505 runs away from their target by stumps.
