Troll him all you can, but Temba Bavuma is arguably a top-notch captain in Test cricket for South Africa. He took the captaincy mantle at a time when the cricket in South Africa was dying, but the stalwart resurrected the team and has helped them reach the WTC finals.

Captaincy pressure has also brought the best out of Bavuma, the bater as his numbers have gone up significantly. The numbers have also reflected in South Africa's Test performance as the team lookd solid under his regime.

Bavuma better than Kohli, Rohit

Prior to his captaincy, Bavuma had only scored 2797 runs, at an average of just 34.53, however, after the added burden of leading the team, Bavuma has shone brightly and now has scored 716 runs, at 55.07.

Only Kane Williamson, among batsman-captains this decade, has a better average: 61.81, and the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fall way behind the Proteas skipper. Rohit Sharma averages just 30.58 as the captain in this decade, while Kohli, who captained India in 2020-21 in this decade also has an average in the 30s, which showcases Bavuma's dominance in Tests.

Rickelton slams century as South Africa in driving seat

South Africa started on a strong note as the openers added 61 runs for the opening wicket. However, before the stroke of lunch, Pakistan snapped 3 quick wickets as the home team was tottering.

However, Bavuma, alongside Ryan Rickelton have taken the Proteas to a commanding 184/3 at the tea time break.

Rickelton smashed his second Test ton and has looked in ominous touch, while Bavuma continues his strong work and has notched up yet another fifty as the Pakistan bowling faltered against the deadly duo.
