Chittagong Kings hammered Durbar Rajshahi by a massive 105 runs in Match 7 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. This win has earned them their first points of the tournament, adding two crucial points to their tally and taking them to the third spot in the BPL points table.

After being put in to bat first, Chittagong Kings started their innings with a hiccup, losing Parvez Hossain Emon for a silver duck in the very first over, thanks to a peach of a delivery from Taskin Ahmed. But what followed was nothing short of a blitzkrieg.


Usman Khan and Graham Clark took the Rajshahi bowlers to the cleaners, putting on a masterclass in power hitting. Boundaries rained down at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium as the pair smashed anything and everything that came their way.

The duo stitched together a blistering 120-run stand, leaving the opposition scratching their heads. Clark was finally undone by Sohag Gazi for a well-made 40, but the damage was already done. The Kings were cruising, and all eyes were now on Usman Khan, who looked unstoppable.

Usman Khan continued his carnage after Clark’s departure, hammering the bowlers with ruthless intent. He raced to a century off just 48 balls, becoming the first batter to achieve the feat in this year’s BPL. Every shot was a statement, and by the time Taskin Ahmed trapped him in the penultimate over for a stunning 123 off 62 balls, the crowd was already on its feet.

While Mohammad Mithun contributed a handy 28 off 15, it was Haider Ali who added the finishing touches with a quickfire 19 off just eight balls, pushing the Kings to a colossal total of 219/5.

Chasing a mountain of 220, Durbar Rajshahi’s innings started on a bright note, with Mohammad Haris smashing a quick-fire 32 off just 15 balls. However, his dismissal in the sixth over marked the beginning of a complete collapse. Sabbir Hossain and Anamul Haque couldn’t hold the fort, and the Rajshahi middle order had no answers to the disciplined bowling attack.

Yasir Ali and Akbar Ali tried to steady the ship with brief cameos, but the pressure of the required rate proved too much. Wickets fell like ninepins, with the Kings’ bowlers keeping their lines tight and exploiting the conditions to perfection.

Arafat Sunny and Al Islam were the wreckers-in-chief for Chittagong. Sunny’s 3/23 and Al Islam’s 3/17 dismantled the Rajshahi lineup.


Shoriful Islam also chipped in with two wickets, ensuring there was no respite for the batters. The Rajshahi innings folded for a mere 114 in 17.1 overs, handing Chittagong a massive 105-run win.
