New Zealand will square off against Uganda in match 32 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Friday, June 14.

In a rather inconsequential match, considering the top two teams of Group C are already settled, both teams will be playing the match in Trinidad and Tobago for pride and will be looking to end the tournament on a high.

Following the back-to-back losses against Afghanistan and West Indies, New Zealand finds themselves out of the tournament from the group stages with their past two rivals already making it to the Super Eights after three wins on the trot each.

On the other hand, Uganda, who played a game under the lights for the first time ever at the World Cup won one out of their three matches and would go into the clash on Friday evening to take home some more memories, considering this tournament as a success.

Team Previews

New Zealand

The Kiwis who decided to opt out from the warm-up games ahead of the tournament has struggled to find their footing in the Caribbean. After the lacklustre show with both bat and ball against both Afghanistan and West Indies, NZ sit at the bottom of the table.

Having massively underperformed in the death bowling where they conceded 53 in the last 5 overs against Afghanistan and 58 against the hosts, West Indies after reducing them to 77/7 at one point, NZ would want to finish the innings well with the ball.

With the bat, they will be looking up to the captain, Kane Williamson who has just scored 10 runs in 15 balls across both innings to lead them from the front alongside the experienced Devon Conway up at the top and Daryl Mitchell in the middle.

Uganda

The African side who played their first World Cup game earlier in the tournament against Afghanistan has already won their first game at the stage, coming at the top of Papua New Guinea, defeating them by 3 wickets in a 78-run chase.

On the bowling front, despite conceding plenty against full members due to some inexperience, the Ugandans will be happy with the young pacers, Cosmos Kyewuta and Juma Miyagi firing alongside spinners Alpesh Ramjani and 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga.

In their final game of the campaign, the East Africans will want to show something substantial with the bat as well and take home some good memories while inspiring a new generation of cricketers.

NZ v UGA: Brian Lara Cricket Academy Pitch Report

In the two games played on this surface so far, the pitch has offered assistance to both, batters and bowlers, predominantly for the pacers with the ball with good amount of wind in both the games. It will be easier to score after the halfway mark as the ball will get older. Taking time early on in the innings with the bat will be key.
