During the first innings, at 17.3, Kyewuta destroyed Sherfane Rutherford's timber with a flawless yorker, giving Rutherford no chance to react. This followed up with an aggressive send-off to the Caribbean southpaw by the Ugandan bowler.

Rutherford who was starting to look dangerous was batting on 22 when he was surprised by a dead-on delivery in the block-hole after a boundary on the previous delivery. This pumped up the 22-year-old resulting in him roaring punching the air and saying a word or two to the batter.

The Caribbeans who batted first after winning the toss kept on building some quick and short partnerships throughout the innings. Despite some good bowling, Uganda ended up conceding 173 which included a massive six by Rovman Powell that went out of the ground.
