England convincingly defeated Oman on Thursday, June 14 as the sides met in Antigua for match 28 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Captain Jos Buttler credited bowlers for setting the tone of the game which helped them improve their net run rate.

After winning the toss and bowling first, the Oman side was rattled by the super-fast, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer who took 3 wickets each for 12 runs and the spin of Adil Rashid brought England 4 for just 11. The batters went all guns blazing, chasing down the 48-run target in just 3.1 overs.

Reviewing the match, Buttler touched upon the bounce that England got with the ball and how good Rashid was for them,

"The tone was set by the bowlers, who took early wickets and restricted them. There was extra bounce for Topley with his height. They bowled a good line and length. [On Rashid] I don't think anyone expected the wicket to play like it did, looked like a really good surface," said the English captain.

About approaching the batting and over-criticism around England's performance in the last game,

"With the bat, we just looked to be ultra-positive and tried to take advantage of the NRR. [On Criticism] Been around long enough to know how people like you [Nasser Hussain] make comments, it's part of your job. We can only control what we do, all focus is on the next game," Buttler concluded.

In their final group stage encounter, the Englishmen will take on Namibia on Saturday at the same venue while hoping for Australia to do them a favour by beating Scotland to go through to the Super Eights.
