Zimbabwe are coming off great form, having beaten Australia in a One-Day International (ODI) last month. Their recent track record under new head coach Dave Houghton is remarkable, having lost just one T20I since June this year.

The former Zimbabwean captain took over the reins from former Indian player Lalchand Rajpur, who suffered a string of defeats, which included a 0-3 clean sweep by Afghanistan.

The African nation defeated the Netherlands by 37 runs in a close encounter in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier B to qualify for the main event being held in Australia two weeks from now.

Zimbabwe are placed in Group B of the ICC T20  World Cup 2022 alongside Ireland, West Indies, and Scotland.

Speaking to Sunday Mail Sport, Coach Houghton sounded confident about his side's chances of qualifying into the Super 12 stage while hoping to finish on top of his group.

"We need to come in the top two for us to qualify for the next round, As far as I am concerned, we should be looking at winning that pool and I do not see anybody in that pool who we cannot beat on a good day,"

Led by Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe play their first game on October 17 at Hobart.
