England's premier all-rounder Moeen Ali has revealed that he will not be coming out of the Test retirement for the Pakistan tour later this year after a lengthy discussion with head coach Brendon McCullum.

Back in September 2021, Moeen decided to call it a day from Test cricket after playing 64 matches for England. However, earlier this year, he expressed his desire to officially unretire himself after having a chat with the head coach of the Test team-Brendon McCullum.

But Moeen has taken a final call of not playing the red-ball format again for England which makes him available for the historic three-march Test series against Pakistan starting in December.

Writing exclusively in Sportsmail, Moeen said that he will not be available for England’s trip to Pakistan for the Test series, despite saying earlier in the year that he was excited by the direction of the team under captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum.

The ace all-rounder stated that he is not keen to make a return to the Test side after having discussions with McCullum.

Moeen Ali wrote for The Daily Mail,

"That’s a trip I won’t be making sadly. It’s not something I’m keen on doing any more. I've had an honest chat with Baz (Brendon McCullum) and I can’t see myself being stuck in hotels for another month and playing to the best of my ability. Baz phoned me, we spoke at length and I said, “Sorry, I’m done”. He understands, he knows the feeling.‘Test cricket is hard work. I’m 35 and something’s got to give. I want to enjoy my cricket and it wouldn’t be fair to reverse my decision and then struggle to give it my all,"

Moeen further stated that he is done playing Test cricket and he will not be considering a comeback in the future.

"It’s time to close the door on that side of my career. To play 64 Tests for England has been a privilege and a dream fulfilled."
