Glamorgan County Cricket Club (GCCC) came perilously close to being promoted to County Championship Division One after drawing their final 2022 season game against Sussex.

Glamorgan finished third in the County Championship 2022 Division Two points table with six wins, three losses, and five draws. This was the club's best result in a season since 2010.

In the Royal One Day Cup, the County finished fourth in the Group B standings with four wins and as many losses, while they ended up occupying the sixth position in the T20 Blast South Group with five wins, seven losses, and 2 no results.

Coach Matthew Maynard, whose contract with Glamorgan runs out soon, in a statement said that the club is not far away from qualifying in Division One.

"We wanted to challenge to the end of the season and that's what we've done, I'm delighted with some individual performances across the board, and collectively as a unit in the field, it's been a delight in how we've kept going.  We've had some great results, some freak results, and we weren't that far away."

The former England international and a club legend, maintained that he still has the hunger to coach the side.

The 56-year-old praised players like Sam Northeast, captain David Lloyd, Tom Bevan, and thanked overseas talents like Marnus Labuschagne, Colin Ingram, and Shubman Gill for their contributions at various stages for the club.
