All-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match T20 International (T20I) series between Australia and West Indies. The two-T20I series begins on October 5 and will be played across Queensland and Brisbane (October 7).

According to ESPNcricinfo, Stoinis continues to recover from a side strain he contacted in early September during the One-Day Internationals (ODI) series against New Zealand, forcing him to miss Australia's three-match T20I tour of India. He has been plagued with injuries over the past few years, which saw him depart from Sri Lanka mid-way.

The Lucknow Super Giants player came back from an injury in The Hundred 2022 and also played for Australia against Zimbabwe and a few games against the Kiwis.

The hard-hitting batter did not travel with the Australian team to the Gold Coast for the series against West Indies and continues to remain in Perth for rehabilitation, where he will join the Australian side for the three-match T20I series against England, commencing from October 9 in Perth.

Stoinis, who played a significant role in Australia's maiden T20 World Cup title win in 2021, has played 44 T20Is, scoring 612 runs and picking up 13 wickets.

In Stoinis' absence, all-rounder Cameron Green is expected to be given the long rope after his impressive show against India.
