The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Round 2 fixtures saw some exhilarating action, with many India and Indian Premier League (IPL) stars involved alongside some promising domestic talent, who have an opportunity to impress the scouts ahead of the auction in December.

The morning fixtures of the tournament saw a super over between Haryana and Punjab,  followed by another final over nail-biter between Delhi and Tamil Nadu, before Ayush Mhatre and Shivam Dube blew Vidarbha away in the afternoon.

Here's a breakdown of some key performances from SMAT Round 2.

Venkatesh Iyer shines as MP dismantles Vaibhav Suryavanshi and co.

After coming in to bat at 43/4, Venkatesh Iyer scored 55*(34) to guide his team to 174 runs at the end of 20 overs. He went on to open the bowling for Madhya Pradesh and dismissed captain Sakibul Gani. Vaibhav Suryavanshi also only managed 13(9), as Bihar got all out for 112, conceding a 62-run win to MP.

Kamboj grabs the headlines to defeat Abhishek's Punjab in the Super Over

Started by Nishant Sindhu's 61(32) and Ankit Kumar's 51(26) to set a 208-run target for Punjab, Anshul Kamboj bowled a fantastic spell of 2/26 (4), dismissing Abhishek Sharma for 6(5) and Prabhsimran Singh for 20(10). A late flurry from the lower-order took the match to the super over, where Kamboj again dismissed Abhishek for a duck, followed by Sanvir Singh. Sindhu finished the match with a four off the first ball.

Dhull, Priyansh & Badoni power Delhi past Chakravarthy-led TNCA

The Narendra Modi Stadium witnessed an epic face-off between the domestic giants, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, as the TNCA openers, Tushar Raheja (72 off 41) and Amit Sathvik (54 off 40), took them to an 198-run first innings score. Led by the opening pair of Yash Dhull and Priyansh Arya, who scored 71(46) and 35(15), respectively, and Ayush Badoni's match-winning 41(23), Delhi won the last-ball thriller vs TN.

T Natarajan was the pick of the star-studded TN bowling attack with 1/27(4), Sai Kishore took 1/39, while Varun Chakravarthy and Gurjapneet conceded 47 and 48, respectively.

Dube and Mhatre pull Mumbai out of the jaws of defeat

Following Vidarbha's good start through openers Aman Mokhade's 61(30) and Atharva Taide's 64(36), Shivam Dube took 3/31, alongside Sairaj Patil 3/33, to restrict them to 192/9. Ajinkya Rahane fell on a two-ball duck before Ayush Mhatre took the Vidarbha pacers for cleaners and scored 110*(53). He scored 43(16) vs Umesh Yadav and 35(12) vs Darshan Nalkande.

Shivam Dube joined him late in the innings and ran away with the match, with his 39*(19) as they won by 7 wickets. Captain Harsh Dubey bowled an impressive spell of 0/28 (4) for Vidarbha with Yash Thakur's 1/21 (2.5).
