Pakistan and Sri Lanka locked horns in match 6 of the Tri-Nation Series in Rawalpindi on Thursday evening, as the Lankans' thriller win sealed their spot in the final.

As Sri Lanka knocked out Zimbabwe with a 6-run win over the hosts, here's how the match panned out.

Brisk start from Kusal Mendis

Upon being asked to bat first, the visitors lost Pathum Nissanka, as Salman Mirza cleaned him up with a magical delivery from over the wicket, which seamed away from the leg stump to hit the wickets. However, wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis joined Kamil Mishara and built a 66-run stand in quick time.

At the end of powerplay, SL were 58/1, courtesy of Mendis' attack, who added 40 off 22, with the help of 6 fours and a six before being dismissed at the 8.1 over mark.

Mishara & Shanaka power the Lankans to a formidable total

Mishara took over from Mendis and went from 29*(21) to 76(48), while taking charge of the middle overs. He finished with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Dasun Shanaka went on to score a quick-fire 17(10) to help his team to a strong finish with the help of two fours and a six.

Sri Lanka finished at 184/5, and Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with 2/28 (4), and Mirza took 1/29 in his four.

Duck for Babar as Chameera runs over the Pakistan top-order

Experienced pacer Dushmantha Chameera dismantled the Pakistan top four by picking 3 wickets in his first two overs inside the powerplay. He got rid of the dangerous Sahibzada Farhan and former skipper Babar Azam within three deliveries, followed by Fakhar Zaman in the subsequent over.

Babar was trapped lbw on the second ball of his innings on a ball at the middle and leg that kept a bit low with a deviation and crashed onto his pads.

Saim Ayub tried to attack, with his 27(18) with four fours and a six, but was chopped on a quick short-ish delivery from Eshan Malinga at the 4.4 over mark.

Agha's fifty goes vain as Chameera steps up to clinch the thriller

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha took the matters in his own hands and went all guns blazing to get to his fifty in 35 balls, batting alongside Mohammad Nawaz, who played a second fiddle till the 18th over before joining the captain's attack. The latter was dismissed while attacking Eshan Malinga at 27(16) when 16 runs were required.

Chameera returned to complete his spell and was attacked in his third over for 14 runs. The bowler later bowled the 20th over and defended 10 runs with pin-point yorkers and guided his team to the final with match figures of 4/20 (4). Salman Agha was left stranded on the non-strike in the final over, finishing with 63*(44) with four fours and three sixes.
