Sri Lankan batters made light work of the inexperienced Hong Kong side in the 5th match of the Emerging Asia Cup. The Lankan side won the game by 42 runs as Hong Kong never looked comfortable against a dominating side.

With the match ended, we look at the key moments and highlights from this riveting battle.

Yashodha Lanka gives solid start to SL

On a good surface for batting, Sri Lanka took full advantage and posted a commanding total on the board. The responsibility for a solid total was led by opener Yashodha Lanka, who played according to the situation and scored a quick-fire 56 off 44 deliveries which laid the foundation for a huge total.

Arachchige, Mendis steer Sri Lanka to 178

Despite a solid start, Sri Lanka needed to finish on a high and needed someone to play a blinder. That blinder came from Sahan Arachchige and Ramesh Mendis.

As the match progressed, the wicket started to slow down, but Mendis and Arachchinge showed no mercy as they hammered the Hong Kong bowling attack and made a mockery of it.

Mendis, in particular was severe on the bowling, as he smashed a match-winning 24 off 12 balls and was amply supported by Arachchige, who ended with 23 off 15 and helped their side post a strong total.

Hong Kong batters failed against quality attack

Once 178 was posted, Hong Kong never stood a chance as they crumbled under pressure. The side lost a couple of early wickets and that jolted their momentum.

Babar Hayat, one of their key batters tried hard and played a lone warriors' knock, but it wasn't enough as Hong Kong batters crumbled under pressure and gave an easy victory to the Islanders.
