In a one-sided contest, DC beat SRH by 7 wickets to earn their second victory of the IPL 2025 season. While Hyderabad batted first, Mitchell Starc’s fiery spell in powerplay reduced SRH to 37/4. Aniket Verma’s half-century led to some recovery as they posted 163 runs on the board. However, Delhi’s opener Faf du Plessis dashed Hyderabad's hope with a 27-ball half-century as DC wrapped up the chase in 16 overs.

Here’s how DC vs SRH panned out in Visakhapatnam:

Mitchell Starc Makes A Mockery Of SRH’s Dangerous Top Order

Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first, but SRH were in for a big collapse. Mitchell Starc, with the new ball in hand, wreaked absolute havoc. An unfortunate mix-up between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma while running between the wickets cost SRH Abhishek’s important wicket.

The Aussie speedster led the charge by striking two wickets in a single over. Ishan Kishan, the first centurion of the IPL 2025 season, recklessly slashed at a short ball only to find the safe hands of Stubbs at deep backward point. Moreover, in the same over, Nitish Reddy fell for a duck, completely deceived by Starc’s clever change of pace, skying one straight to Axar Patel at mid-on.

Aniket Verma Fights For SRH After Starc’s Fifer

With SRH 3 down for 25 in the powerplay, Starc struck again, this time to dismiss Travis Head. Bowling from over the wicket, Starc dug in a sharp short ball, forcing Head into an awkward hop as he tried to guide it over backward point. Instead, the ball brushed his glove, and Rahul took a sharp catch, moving swiftly to his left. That marked Starc’s third wicket in 13 balls as he rattled SRH’s core.

However, a new hero emerged for Hyderabad as young talent Aniket Verma played an inspiring knock of 74 off just 41 balls. Despite a quick loss of wickets, he showed intent, hitting 6 maximums and 5 boundaries. Owing to his fightback and resistance, SRH managed to get 163 runs on the board. Meanwhile, Starc had a memorable day, claiming 5 wickets in 3.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav supported him well with 3 wickets in his economical spell.

Faf du Plessis Unleash Carnage With Swashbuckling 50

Delhi Capitals opener Faf du Plessis made a mockery of the total set by SRH. In the second inning, he went berserk, scoring 50 off just 27 balls, including 3 boundaries and as many sixes. DC had 52 runs in the powerplay before du Plessis and Jake Fraser McGurk were dismissed by Zeeshan Ansari.

Regardless, with the required run rate under control, KL Rahul slammed Shami for 18 runs in the 11th over. But Ansari extended his magical night by dismissing Rahul, picking up his third wicket of the game.

DC Gets Comfortable Win In One-Sided Contest

By the time death overs began, DC’s chase was reduced to just a formality. Abhishek Porel contributed with 34* off 18 balls whereas Tristan Stubbs also added 21 off 14 balls from the other end as Delhi chased down the total in 16 overs to secure a dominant and comfortable 7 wicket win.
