In a remarkable turn of events, promising Pakistani batter Abdullah Shafique has completed 1000 runs in Test cricket. The stylish opener achieved the milestone on day 2 of Pakistan's ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle. Shafique took only 24 innings to achieve the feat, joining the likes of Javed Miandad as one of the fastest Pakistani batters to slam 1000 runs in Test cricket.

Since debuting in 2021, Shafique has established himself as a vital cog in Pakistan's Test setup, helping them win several matches through his incredible contributions. Although he has played some outstanding knocks, a match-winning 160* against the Lankans in Galle remains a major highlight of his brief career. 

Shafique got off to a decent start, but failed to convert it into a big innings, being dismissed for 19 by Prabath Jayasuriya. 

Regarding the game, Sri Lanka managed 312 runs on the board in their first innings, courtesy of a magnificent ton from Dhananjaya de Silva. In response, Pakistan are in a spot of bother, placed at 53 for two, with Shan Masood and Babar Azam batting on 30* and 6*, respectively.
