Shubman Gill showcased his incredible fielding attributes as his spectacular catch helped Ravichandran Ashwin get his first wicket in the ongoing Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. The stylish Punjab batter's stunning effort was instrumental in breaking the second-wicket stand between Shadman Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto. for the home side.

Chasing a mammoth target of 515 runs, Bangladesh had a positive start to their innings, with Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam adding 62 runs for the first wicket. After Bumrah drew the first blood and dismissed Zakir, Shadman steadied the ship alongside skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, as the duo frustrated the Indian bowlers with their gritty batting.

However, veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who earlier slammed a memorable century, emerged as the saviour for India, dismissing Shadman in his eighth over. He started his over on a poor note, conceding five runs, including a boundary, off the first two deliveries.

But his comeback was remarkable, as he outfoxed Shadman, getting his prized scalp for 35 runs. Nevertheless, a major credit for the dismissal went to Shubman Gill, who grabbed a stunning catch to send the Bangladesh opener packing.

It was a short ball on the pads from Ashwin as Shadman tried to guide it off his back foot through the leg side. However, he only managed a top edge, with Gill concluding his valiant knock with an excellent diving catch.

Bangladesh Showcase Fighting Spirit In 2nd Innings

Despite having two consecutive forgettable days, Bangladesh showcased commendable fighting spirit in their second innings. Although the target still seems daunting, the Tigers have impressed everyone with their resilience. Earlier, India secured a whopping 514-run lead thanks to exceptional knocks from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. As of writing, the visitors were 111 for two, with Shanto and Mominul batting on 26* and 9*, respectively.
