The ongoing Champions Cup in Pakistan is turning out to be a disaster for the pace sensation, Shaheen Afridi. Once touted as a path-breaking bowler of his nation, Shaheen's pace has dipped and so has his bowling skills.

The left-arm pacer suffered a knee injury in 2022 and since then, his form has dropped considerably across formats. No longer he is that terrifying bowler who used to terrorise opposition with pace and guile. This has become a regular feature for Shaheen in the ongoing Champions Cup tournament.

Playing for the Lions, Shaheen has had an ordinary tournament, and was taken to the cleaners in the last game by Fakhar Zaman. A similar incident occurred in the ongoing contest against the Dolphins, when star batter, Mohammad Huraira took him to the cleaner with a sensational six.

Shaheen dugged in short and wide, and offered no pace at all as Huraira was up for the task. He hanged back and used the little pace on offer to clobber a brilliant six over the deep point region.

The Dolphins batter connected from the sweet spot of the bat and made Shaheen look like helpless on a flat track.

Shaheen eager to get some form before England Test series

The Eagle, as they call him, failed in the Bangladesh Test series, picking up just 2 wickets in the first Test. As a result, he was dropped from the second game, which Pakistan lost. The swing bowler has not been at his best, and aims to get the old-form back in the Champions Cup.

Alongside Babar Azam, he was called-up to the connection camp organized by PCB for the players bound to represent the team in the England series. PCB are also hopeful that their main pacer gets the form back before the start of the Test series against England.
