Fakhar Zaman has been one of the best batters for Markhors in the Champions One-Day Cup, and he continued the good work with some breath-taking assault on fellow teammate, Shaheen Afridi. The Pakistan seamer looked clueless against Fakhar and was taken to the cleaners in the early going.

Chasing a tricky 368, Markhors opener, Fakhar Zaman had no choice but to attack, right from the word go. He came out all guns blazing as the boundary floodgates opened. The left-handed batter was at his destructive best and took on the best bowler of the opposition team, Shaheen.

In the 7th over, when the scoring-rate was going high, the Markhors openers, particularly, Fakhar decided to target Shaheen, as he smashed a power-packed six to rattle the left-arm seamer, and followed it up with a brilliant boundary that went over the bowlers' head. 

Shaheen lacked the pace to trouble Fakhar and the southpaw took full advantage of it. At the time of writing, Shaheen has already conceded 35 runs in 4 overs.

Shaheen has been out of form as of late

The year 2024 has certainly not been kind for the Pakistan seamer. Shaheen lacked the cutting-edge on the Australian tour, and while he had a couple of decent games in the T20 World Cup, the poor form returned during the Bangladesh Test series.

In the first match of the series, Shaheen could only pick up 2 wickets as Bangladesh ran-riot and won the game by 10-wickets.

Following which, the seamer was dropped from the second Test, which the Pakistan side lost once again and were whitewashed in the series.
