Pakistan blanked Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final of the Pakistan T20I tri-series 2025 in Rawalpindi. Star all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award on the big day for his exceptional three-wicket haul, and the cricketer also snared the ‘Player of the Series’ award.

The outcome also continued Pakistan’s T20I success under the leadership of Salman Agha, who was appointed as ‘Men in Green’ T20I captain after the removal of Mohammad Rizwan earlier this year. The win further marked the year 2025 as Pakistan’s most successful year in T20I history, in terms of number of wins at least.

Most Wins by Pakistan in a Calendar Year in T20Is

The Pakistan cricket team recorded its 21st win in T20I cricket this year by defeating Sri Lanka in the final of the 2025 Pakistan T20I tri-series in Rawalpindi. The ‘Men in Green’, under the leadership of Salman Agha, achieved the feat in just 34 games so far, thus making the year 2025 their most successful in T20I cricket.

Previously, the Pakistan cricket team notched up 20 wins in 29 matches back in the year 2021, the same year when they first defeated arch-rivals India in any World Cup edition, doing so in the 2021 T20 event in the UAE. Here is a look at four of Pakistan’s most successful years in T20Is in terms of number of wins.

Notably, out of the 13 defeats Pakistan incurred this year, three of them came against India all during the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE a couple of months ago. Pakistan also suffered a 1-4 hammering at the hands of New Zealand away from home earlier this year, i.e., during Salman Agha’s first series as full-time T20I captain. Furthermore, Pakistan suffered a shock 1-2 defeat in Bangladesh.

In terms of success, Pakistan blanked Bangladesh 3-0 at home, defeated West Indies 2-1 in the USA, won the UAE Tri-series against Afghanistan and UAE and trashed South Africa 2-1 at home.
