Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 50 runs to win the 18th match of the IPL 2025 season. Batting first, Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and Riyan Parag (43) helped RR get 205 runs. In the second inning, however, PBKS collapsed to Jofra Archer and Maheesh Theekshana’s dream spells, falling 50 runs short.

Here’s how RR vs PBKS panned out in Chandigarh:

Jaiswal-Samson’s Partnership Sets The Stage For RR

Rajasthan Royals batted first with Sanju Samson returning as captain. Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal were off to a blazing start, knitting up an 89-run partnership for the opening wicket. Jaiswal slammed 67 off 45 balls with 5 sixes whereas Samson contributed 38 off 26 balls. However, Lockie Ferguson got a much-needed breakthrough for PBKS as he got rid of both the openers in the middle overs.

Riyal Parag’s Finishing Knock Powers RR To 200+ Runs Total

After the set openers departed, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer accelerated in death overs. Parag slammed fighting 43* off 25 balls whereas Hetmyer could only score 20 off 12 balls. Regardless, Riyan’s knock powered Rajasthan Royals to a formidable total of 205 runs. On the other hand, for PBKS, Marco Jansen and Marcus Stoinis bowled costly spells, conceding 45 and 48 runs respectively.

Jofra Archer Rips Into PBKS’s Top Order

With a formidable total on board, RR stepped into the second inning with confidence. Moreover, pacer Jofra Archer boosted his team’s confidence with a first-ball wicket.

The England speedster delivered a back-of-a-length peach delivery that shaped away after pitching on the middle and clipped the off-stump of Priyansh Arya. Arya had no answer as he rooted to the crease with no foot movement. He played inside the line and missed it completely, resulting in a golden duck.

However, Archer’s night was far from done. He also dismissed the man in form, Shreyas Iyer. The PBKS captain bizarrely opted for an ugly slog across the line. Archer kept it full and straight on the stumps, and Iyer backed away into no man’s land. The ball shattered the stumps, resulting in the second wicket for Archer.

Rajasthan Royals Beat Punjab After Bowlers’ Clinical Effort

PBKS kept on losing important wickets. Kumar Kartikeya dismissed Prabhsimran Singh whereas Marcus Stoinis fell prey to Sandeep Sharma and with 43 runs on board, Punjab were 4 wickets down.

Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell, however, knitted a 88-run partnership, offering a glimmer of hope for Punjab fans. Wadhera hit 62 off 41 balls but both set batters lost their wickets in death overs. Eventually, PBKS lost multiple wickets in a cluster and fell short of 50 runs, resulting in a dominant win for RR.
